It was a beautiful evening of movement, learning and connection at the Health & Wellness Tourism Association’s Connect with Movement gathering in Panglao, Bohol.
The wellness talk brought together different perspectives on movement and wellbeing, with speakers exploring martial arts, Qi Gong, yoga, Pilates and Yoga Nidra. What I loved about the evening was how each practice offered a different way of caring for the body, mind and spirit.
Love, Energy, Time & Abundance
Mike Stone shared a thought-provoking talk around LET — Love + Energy + Time = Abundance.
One idea that stayed with me was his perspective on two types of physical activity. There are activities that leave us feeling energised and renewed, connected to what we might describe in yoga as prana—the life force or vital energy. And then there are activities that leave us feeling depleted and exhausted.
It made me reflect on the way we choose to move. Are we moving simply because we feel we should, or are we choosing activities that nourish and energise us?
Mike also spoke about the question we often ask ourselves as we grow older and wiser: “Who am I?” Through his own journey, he discovered that he is Love and Light.
His message was a beautiful reminder to take care of ourselves, the people we love, and the energy and time we have—and to become the best version of ourselves as we move through this world.
Discovering Qi Gong
Marsha Bayron, founder of Bohol Yoga and Meditation, introduced us to Qi Gong, sharing its background and benefits before guiding everyone through a simple Qi Gong movement practice.
It was wonderful to see everyone slow down, breathe and experience the practice together.
The Mental & Physical Benefits of Yoga
I had the opportunity to share about the mental and physical benefits of yoga—how yoga can support strength, flexibility, mobility, balance and body awareness, while also helping us develop greater focus, calm and self-awareness through movement and breath.
Rather than simply talking about yoga, we included some gentle movement and breathwork so everyone could experience a little of what I was sharing.
From Movement Into Stillness
To complete the experience, Flo Young, our Pilates teacher, guided the group through a beautiful Yoga Nidra practice.
After exploring different forms of movement, it was a lovely way to slow down, rest and simply be.
For me, this was what made the evening special.
We moved.We breathed.We learned.We rested.And we connected.
Different practices and different perspectives, but ultimately one shared message: wellness is about caring for the whole person—body, mind and spirit.
Thank you to the Health & Wellness Tourism Association for bringing us together and creating a space for these conversations and experiences.
And perhaps the simplest reminder to take home is this:
Move the body. Calm the mind. Nourish the soul.
